SET (GENERAL) 2021


Exam Analysis

Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies conducted SET 2021 for admission to BBA programs at its three campuses i.e. Pune, Noida and Nagpur over a period of four days from 10th of July to 13th of July. This time, the exam was conducted in a home proctored online format due to the Covid-pandemic. The overall questions too were reduced from 150 to 60 with four options each and the total time was also decreased proportionately to 60 mins with no sectional time limit. Each correct answer was awarded one mark and there was no negative marking for the incorrect attempts.
Like previous year, the Written Ability Test (WAT) was integrated along with the paper for which 30 minutes was given. Two topics were given and the candidate had to choose and write on any one essay online only. The overall difficulty level of the paper would be considered as easy and a score of 42+ would be considered as safe to make it to the campus.
Below is the break up of the number of questions for each section along with their level of difficulty and an ideal score for the respective section.

GENERAL ENGLISH

Dominated by grammar and vocabulary-based questions, the overall section would be considered as easy. There was also one passage which had three direct questions and could be easily inferred from the passage. The other questions were from various topics of grammar and vocabulary like meanings of words, tenses, adjective usage, opposite, fill in the blanks, etc. A score of 12 and above would be considered as good for this section.


QUANTITATIVE APTITUDE

The quantitative aptitude section had questions mostly from the Arithmetic topics like average, profit & loss, simple interest and compound Interest, time and work, time, speed and distance etc. but were a little calculative. Questions from logarithms, which was never asked before in any of the previous SET exams, was an element of surprise for this year. The overall level of difficulty of this section would be considered as moderate and a score of 10 and above would be considered as good for this section.


GENERAL AWARENESS

The General awareness section had a mixture of questions based on static GK and Current affairs. The current affairs- based questions were easy, while the static GK based questions would be considered as difficult. Overall, the section would be considered as easy to moderate and a score of 11 and above would be considered as good for this section.


ANALYTICAL AND LOGICAL REASONING

The analytical and logical reasoning section had questions from almost all possible topics of reasoning. With questions based on conventional topics of analytical reasoning such as series, coding-decoding, blood relations, clocks and calendars and topics from critical reasoning like cause & effect and syllogisms, there was a question on time and work as well. The overall level of this section would be considered as moderate and a score of 9 and above would be considered as good for this section.
